1. PIPE-FLO V 8 FEATURES LIST

We are in the final stages of testing for PIPE-FLO Professional 8 program, with a ship date this summer.

Here is a partial list of the new version 8 program features:

  • You have the option of displaying all valves and fittings on the FLO-Sheet.

  • You can customize the FLO-Sheet to graphically show one of 12 pre defined color gradients. For example, you can set up color gradients for ranges of flow rates, pipe size, pipe fluid velocity, pipe differential pressure, head loss per 100, differential pressure per 100, Reynolds number, pipe length, valve and fitting losses, pipe specifications, pressure, elevation, fluid zone, and fluid temperature.

  • With the new pipe splitter feature you can insert a node to connect a new pipeline, calculate a pressure within an existing pipeline, or insert a control valve, pump, or component into the system.

  • Pumps selection has been simplified. To insert a pump into your piping system, highlight it on the pump selection list and click the lightning bolt button. The pump performance data is saved in the system model. This eliminates the need to send the pump selection list (UFS file) with your PIPE-FLO projects.

  • A new manual control valve type has been added to the list of supported control types. Now PIPE-FLO helps you determine the throttle position needed to achieve a desired flow rate, providing you with an excellent way to quickly balance any fluid piping system.

  • The PIPE-FLO help file has been completely revised to take advantage the advanced Windows help engine. The help files also contain direct links to the Engineered Software Knowledge Base.

These are but a few of the features added to PIPE-FLO version 8. Anyone purchasing PIPE-FLO Professional between June 1st and the programs actual ship date will automatically receive a PIPE-FLO Version 8 upgrade for no additional charge.

2. COLOR GRADIENTS

With PIPE-FLO 8 we have added a color gradient feature, now the colors of the pipelines on the FLO-Sheet can reflect pipeline attributes. The use of color helps you identify problem areas in the system. For example, suppose we are trying to identify a bottleneck in the system, by setting the color gradients to head loss per 100 ft you can quickly see where your bottlenecks are.

The color gradients are available for design attributes (pipe size, pipe length, total K, or pipe specification) or results attributes (flow rate, fluid velocity, pipe dp, head loss, head loss per 100, Reynolds number, etc).

A color key has the option of displaying a continuous range or colors or discrete values, based on the gradient selected.

3. DISPLAY VALVES & FITTING ON THE FLO-SHEET

PIPE-FLO 8 gives you the option of displaying valves and fittings on the FLO-Sheet. Under the drawing options tab you can select what types of valves and fittings you wish to display. Valves and fittings are grouped in elbows & bends, stop & check valves, entrance & exits, reducers, tees, and K and Cv items.

For example, you can choose to display only stop and check valves, and the reducers on your FLO-Sheet. This provides you with full customization of your FLO-Sheet.

PIPE-FLO WEB PRESENTATION

Want to see PIPE-FLO in operation? Then sign up for a free PIPE-FLO Web presentation. During this 45-minute Web presentation, you will see how PIPE-FLO can provide you with a clear picture of your fluid piping system. One of our support engineers will take PIPE-FLO through its paces, you can ask questions, and see how to use PIPE-FLO to select centrifugal pumps and control valves from manufacturers electronic catalogs.

4. ADVANCED HELP

One of the new features in PIPE-FLO 8 is the advanced help. For the last two years, we have been adding information to the Engineered Software Knowledge Base. The advanced help in the PIPE-FLO Help file provides links to our Knowledge Base so you can get up-to-the-minute information on the various PIPE-FLO features. This allows us to respond to our customer’s questions on how to get the maximum utility out of the PIPE-FLO program.
