1. PIPE-FLO VIEWER |
Have you ever wanted to share a
PIPE-FLO model with a customer or associate but they didn’t have
PIPE-FLO? With PIPE-FLO 7.1’s upcoming PIPE-FLO Viewer System (PVS)
file format feature they can!
The new PIPE-FLO Viewer System (PVS)
file format is a read only file format that can be e-mailed to
clients, associates, and vendors; in short anyone who needs to know
how the piping system operates.
Once they have your PVS file they can
download the PIPE-FLO Viewer program from the Engineered Software
Website. The viewer program displays the calculated results, prints
all PIPE-FLO reports, and view detailed information about each object
on the FLO-Sheet. PIPE-FLO Viewer also supports FLO-Links, providing
you with immediate access to design documents.

NEW PUMP CATALOGS |
|
Thanks to our PIPE-FLO and PUMP-FLO
customers we have been making headway on adding new Electronic Pump
Catalogs. The two newest additions to the Pump Manufacturers List (http://www.eng-software.com/pml)
are Peerless Pumps, and Simflo.
Simflo Pumps is located in Wilcox AZ
and produces a full line of line shaft and submersible vertical
turbine pumps, as well as a complete line of municipal and industrial
pumps. Bowl sizes range from 4” to 28” with capacities ranging from 5
to 18,000 gpm.
Simflo is making their Electronic Pump
Catalogs available from their Website. A link to their download page
can be found on
http://www.eng-software.com/pml.
If you would like to see additional
pump manufacturers please let us know and we’ll forward your request
to the pump manufacturer. Remember when customers talk a company
listens.

3. PIPE-FLO 7.1 CONTROL VALVE INTEGRATION
|
|
A new feature of PIPE-FLO 7.1 is the
ability to select a control valve from an Electronic Valve Catalog
then insert it into the piping system model. PIPE-FLO then displays
the valve position needed to achieve the desired set point.
This new feature has streamlined the
control valve selection process. You perform a control valve
selection, and then highlight the desired valve on the selection list
and click on the “Return Valve Data to System” button and the valve
operating information is automatically saved with the piping system.
The Control Valve Properties are saved so you have complete
documentation of the selected control valve.
Using the PIPE-FLO program you can
create your own Electronic Control Valve Catalogs by entering the
valve coefficients. You can also contact you control valve suppliers
and have them create a catalog for you. We at Engineered Software
will provide them with a copy of the program so they can create their
own Electronic Control Valve Catalog, or we will create it for them.
If you would like to see your favorite control valve manufacturer
support the PIPE-FLO program please e-mail your request to
sales@eng-software.com and we’ll contact the valve manufacturer.

WEB TRAINING CLASSES |
|
Many of you have attended one of our
online Web sales presentations on the PIPE-FLO program. This is an
excellent way for someone to see how the program operates.
With the release of our TechNet Plus
program upgrade and technical support product we are now offering Web
seminars on various PIPE-FLO Professional topics. Each 1 hour Web
seminar includes lesson handouts along with sample files that you can
review after the presentation is over. Many companies view these
conferences on projection monitors with multiple people reviewing the
information. We also have the ability of having multiple companies
and/or sites attend the seminar allowing company wide training.
The first Web seminar is scheduled for
July and deals with PIPE-FLO Professional 7.1 Features “Beyond
Pressures and Flows”. This seminar is available on multiple dates and
times. TechNet Plus subscribers will be notified in their newsletter
as to the time and dates and who to contact to register for a session.

5. NEW NETWORK OPTIONS & FEATURES |
|
With the release of PIPE-FLO 7.1 we
are adding a Network Checkout feature along with making a Wide Area
Network (WAN) License.
Using the Check Out feature one of
your users can connect their laptop to your Network then check out a
license from the PIPE-FLO License Manager Server. The license can be
checked out for as long as needed. When the user is done with the
license they can check it back in. If the user forgets to check in
the license, the license is automatically checked in when the
traveling license times out.
One thing to remember, when the
license is checked out from the Network License Manager Server, it
will not be available on the LAN or WAN.
We are also releasing a new Wide Area
Network (WAN) license arrangement where a company can share their
PIPE-FLO licenses at multiple locations. Here are two examples of how
the to use a WAN license.
Example 1:
An engineering firm has four offices,
each with a three user LAN’s, with a total of 12 licenses. If one
office has a large job that requires more than three users at one
time, they will need to purchase an additional LAN license for that
site. With a WAN license everyone in the entire company has access to
all 12 licenses, allowing sharing of the license across the entire
company. This provides the engineering firm with greater utilization
of their licenses.
Example 2:
A company has 15 plant sites, along
with a central engineering office. The piping system models have been
developed and are updated by central engineering. With a WAN license
the people at central engineering have access to the program. The
plants are casual users and can access the PIPE-FLO software at the
central engineering office using the WAN. Using WAN licenses a large
number of casual plant users can be supported with only one or two
licenses.
