Pump Systems Matter - Reducing Energy Consumption

Engineered Software recently joined a Pump Systems MatterTM (PSM) initiative. Ray Hardee, our Chief Engineer, attended the first meeting on April 25 & 26th in St. Louis. PSM is a group of equipment manufacturers, software suppliers, and electric energy producers interested in achieving energy savings in pumping systems increasing the system efficiency and economics. Industrial pumping systems in North America account for 25% of industrial electrical energy used so there is large potential for energy conservation.

Many of the power companies in North America have active programs to help their industrial customers reduce their energy consumption through conservation programs. We are extremely excited at working with the Electrical Utilities and their customers in helping improving the efficiency of their fluid piping systems. These efforts benefit both the electrical utility as well as their industrial customers. It currently costs over $1,800 USD build one of generating capacity, and it cost only $400 USD to make the system needed to reduce the customers load by 1 kWatt, as you can see by having their customers use less power, the electrical utility can get more use out of their existing plants.

Engineered Software has had a long history in working with Electrical Utilities and Industrial power consumers in finding ways to minimize their energy consumption; we look forward to continuing this effort through Pumping Systems Matters.

Meet With An ESI Representative

Our Chief Engineer for Engineered Software, Ray Hardee, will be available for free, 1-hour, informational sessions covering the PIPE-FLO hydraulic analysis software. If you are interested in meeting with Hardee, he will be in Cleveland, Ohio June 4th through 9th, call today as his time slots are filling up.

Your time is valuable so meetings will be kept at or under one hour in length. If you would like to set up a meeting, please call 800-786-8545 or send an email to sales@eng-software.com.

The following agenda is typical for PIPE-FLO Presentations and questions are encouraged:

ESI Turns 25!

That’s right, Engineered Software is 25 years old this month! In 1982, when personal computers were barely on the market and Bill Gates was just a 20-something young man with 30 employees, ESI was making software for engineers to use for calculating pressures and flows in fluid piping systems.

Although the company may have had humble beginnings, today ESI has grown to be the world’s leading provider of software used to design and simulate the operation of fluid piping systems. To view the birthday celebration, click here.

We at ESI want to thank all of our customers for making this company what it is today. It is the ongoing collaboration between our users and our staff that makes our success possible.

Fall 2007 FLO-MASTER
Seminars

Register Now for Fall Training

Our first three FLO-Master Seminars of the year have now come to a very successful end. We had great classes in Houston, Memphis, and Philadelphia. Thanks to everyone who made it out to these classes. It is now time to look forward to our fall classes – and seats have already been sold in each class – so call today to save your spot!

The seminars are two days, with the second day completely focused on real-world examples and hands-on use of the program. Examples will include advanced pump selection, variable frequency drive analysis, advanced controls, balancing a system, system expansion and building a system from scratch.

2007 FLO-MASTER Schedule:

  • Cincinnati, OH - Sept 20 - 21

  • Jacksonville, FL - Oct 17 - 18

  • Las Vegas, NV - Nov 15 - 16

To find out more about the upcoming FLO-Master Seminars visit our FLO-Master page or call (800) 786-8545. The seminars qualify for 15 Professional Development Hours needed to fulfill Professional Engineers’ continuing education requirements in many states.
