PIPE-FLO® Compressible 2007 Is Here!

Engineered Software, Inc., is proud to announce the release of PIPE-FLO® Compressible 2007, the software for designing and simulating the operation of steam and gas piping systems. The newly released Compressible 2007 includes major upgrades from Compressible 2005. TechNet Subscribers can download their free upgrade today by going here.

These improvements allow the user to visualize, calculate, communicate and access information in one easy-to-use program. Two of the major functionality improvements in Compressible 2007 are the ability to quickly size flow meters and balancing orifice and insert them into a system in a single step, as well as customize the information displayed on the piping schematic and on the convenient Fly-By Viewer.

For PIPE-FLO Compressible 2007’s New Features, visit Compressible New Features Page or for more information about the program call toll free at (800) 786-8545.

To read the full article visit our Press Center.

Don’t forget, with the release of the PIPE-FLO® Compressible 2007, all legacy versions of the software older than version 2005 are no longer supported. If you have a version that is 2005 or older, we are still offering upgrade value for a limited time only. If you would like to upgrade to the latest version of PIPE-FLO® Compressible 2007, you have until the end of August.

PIPE-FLO Feature of the Month
Creating Custom Shapes with the ESI Symbol Editor

The ESI Symbol Editor is a tool for creating custom device symbols for use in Engineered Software's line of piping design software programs. Every device on the FLO-Sheet is represented by a symbol that indicates what kind of device it is.

Example devices include tanks, pumps, components, flow controls, flow meters, valves and fittings, as well as others. However, because a single FLO-Sheet device might describe a number of different pieces of equipment, it is sometimes convenient to use different symbols for the same general device type. To handle this need, the piping software often provides a list of standard symbols that may be chosen for each device type.

As an example, consider a system that contains both open atmosphere and pressurized fluid tanks. The system designer can choose to represent these tanks with different symbols so that it is easy to tell at a glance which tanks are which. The Symbol Editor takes this capability a step further by allowing you to create specific symbols for any device type in your system.

For more information on how to DRAW, SAVE, and USE custom shapes check out the Knowledge Base article 1468, Creating Custom Shapes in ESI Symbol Editor click here for Article 1468.

Pump Training from an Industry Expert

Pumps are an integral part of your industry. Yet engineers, operators, and maintenance technicians are seldom fully trained to handle the pump problems they encounter daily. A good understanding of proper pump application, selection, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance are vital to the success of your company. Now you can learn everything you need to know about pumps at a three-day training course offered by noted Consultant and Author, Michael Volk, P.E.

Volk has been a consultant on pumps for the past 25 years, and has worked in engineering and operations with one of the world’s leading pump manufacturers. He authored Pump Characteristics and Applications, a highly acclaimed pump applications handbook. Volk has taught hundreds of pump courses worldwide, including the most successful course ever held at the prestigious International Pump Users Symposium for the last ten years.

Classes are for engineers, maintenance technicians, pump sales and applications personnel, and will be held:

October 17 – 19, 2007 in San Diego, CA.
